Player FM Podcast Submission Services

Player FM is one of the few large independent podcast apps left. It runs on Android, iOS and the browser, it markets a catalogue of more than 20 million shows with episode-level search, and it carries a paying Premium audience. It is also one of the most misunderstood platforms in podcast distribution — because there is no creator dashboard, no ownership claim and no edit button.

That single fact changes everything about how a show performs there. Your listing is generated from your RSS feed. Anyone with a free account can add your feed, which means you may already be listed, possibly with the wrong feed, the wrong artwork or the wrong category. And the pages that actually send listeners your way are produced by an algorithm that reads subscriber counts, plays and the tags inside your feed.

Our Player FM podcast submission services handle all of it: getting the feed accepted, getting the listing correct, giving the algorithm something to work with, and reporting what the platform actually delivered.

Platform Context

What Player FM Actually Is in 2026

01

Player FM launched in November 2011, built by software designer Michael Mahemoff, and was acquired by Los Angeles-based Maple Media in May 2020. A lot of "top podcast submission sites" articles still describe it as a small indie project. It isn't. It is a commercially operated app with a freemium subscription product, a catalogue refreshed multiple times a day, offline listening, cloud sync, Chromecast support and OPML import and export.

02

Why that matters to you: Apple Podcasts and Spotify together account for roughly two-thirds of measured listening. The remaining third is spread across independent apps, and Player FM is one of the largest names in that group — with a skew toward Android users, commuters and offline listeners who download episodes and listen away from a data connection. If your audience sits anywhere in that remaining third, a broken or missing Player FM listing is a quiet, permanent leak.

Listing Reality

The Detail Every Player FM Guide Skips

Most directories give publishers a portal. Player FM does not. There is no claim flow, no verification email, no dashboard where you log in and fix your show title.

Everything displayed on your Player FM page is read from your RSS feed and refreshed from it. Corrections that the feed cannot fix — a wrong feed URL in their catalogue, a duplicate entry, a show incorrectly marked as archived — are handled by a support queue at [email protected], and they need to be raised properly, with evidence, by someone who knows what to ask for.

This produces three very common situations, and we fix all three:

  • You're already listed and didn't know. A listener imported your feed years ago. The entry works, but it points at your old host.
  • You're listed twice. You migrated hosts without redirects, so the old feed and the new feed both exist as separate shows, splitting your subscribers and your plays.
  • You're listed and marked archived. Player FM believes the show is finished, so it stops promoting it, while you keep publishing.
Submission Routes

How a Podcast Actually Gets onto Player FM

There are four working routes, and the right one depends on your host and your feed type.

The web importer.

You add the feed URL — or an Apple Podcasts link — through Player FM's web import tool. It requires an account, deliberately: their servers will be fetching your feed on an ongoing basis, and they want a contact if a technical or copyright issue comes up. That account should belong to you or to us on your behalf, never to a random listener.

The mobile apps.

In the Android or iOS app, Settings > Import OPML/RSS accepts a feed URL or link directly.

Your host's distribution panel.

Several hosts have built the handshake in. Audioboom, for example, offers an "Add to Player FM" button and writes the resulting Player FM URL back into your dashboard once the show is accepted. Where that exists, we use it — it's cleaner and it keeps your host's records accurate.

Private and premium feeds.

This is where Player FM is unusually generous. Most directories simply refuse authenticated feeds. Player FM lets you import a password-protected or secret feed through the web import tool — you select the "Password-protected or secret" option before submitting — or in-app via Settings > Import OPML/RSS > Add private RSS feed. For subscription shows, that means your paying members can listen in a proper app instead of fighting with a copy-pasted URL.

Feed Audit

Why Feed Imports Fail — And How We Clear Them

Player FM publishes its own list of import failure causes, and in our experience almost every rejection traces back to one of them:

  • The feed contains no audio enclosures or playable media, so it isn't a valid podcast feed
  • The feed no longer exists, or the URL is broken
  • The URL doesn't point to a feed at all — a website address pasted in place of an RSS address is the single most common mistake
  • The URL doesn't begin with http:// or https://
  • The feed has been blacklisted at a publisher's request, often by a previous owner, a previous agency or a host that filed a removal years ago
  • The feed's contents don't comply with Player FM's Terms of Service or Privacy Policy
  • Occasionally, a genuine bug in the import tool

To that published list we add the faults we see constantly on client feeds: a <itunes:block> tag left switched on by a host after a test, an owner email hidden behind a host privacy setting, unstable episode GUIDs that regenerate on every edit and create phantom episodes, oversized or non-square artwork, and — the silent killer — a firewall, CDN or bot rule on the client's own server that blocks directory crawlers while the feed opens perfectly in a browser.

Our feed audit runs before anything is submitted, because a rejected submission costs you days in a queue you cannot see.

Discovery

The Discovery Algorithm, In Player FM's Own Words

This is the part worth paying for, and Player FM is refreshingly direct about it.

Their support team states plainly that many of the discovery pages on the web app are auto-generated by an algorithm and cannot be manually curated. Their own advice to podcasters is to link to your Player FM page from your website, because placement on those pages is based partly on subscriber counts and plays, and to check that your feed carries the right keywords and tags. Separately, there are pages that can be manually featured, and they invite podcasters to email [email protected] to be considered.

So there are exactly two levers, and we work both:

01

The data lever.

Subscribers and plays are the inputs, which makes off-platform routing the real work. We build and deploy your Player FM listen link properly — on your show website, in every episode's show notes, in your email footer, in your link-in-bio, in your newsletter — and we route Android traffic there deliberately, because that's the audience most likely to already have the app installed. We then time a concentrated activation window around a launch, a season premiere or a high-profile guest episode, so subscribes and plays land together rather than trickling.

02

The metadata lever.

Your feed's categories, keywords and tags are what the algorithm reads to decide where you belong. We write them for how Player FM's catalogue and episode-level search behave — a show title that reads clearly in a dense list view, a first description line that does the selling before it truncates, episode titles that carry the searchable phrase rather than just an episode number, and correct language declaration so your show surfaces for the right audience.

What we do not do is promise you a featured slot. Nobody can sell an algorithmic placement, and an agency that quotes you one is guessing with your money.

Maintenance

Keeping the Listing Alive

A Player FM listing degrades quietly. There's no alert, no email, no dashboard warning.

Player FM's own documentation explains that when a show stops updating, it is almost always because the publisher's feed is old, inactive, or has been replaced — and in that last case they ask to be told so the catalogue can be pointed at the new feed. Fetch errors happen when a feed becomes inaccessible or the publisher's server goes down. And because Player FM stays in sync with the feed, missing back-catalogue episodes are usually the publisher's doing: episodes dropped from the feed to keep it small, or files removed from the server altogether.

Our maintenance work covers exactly these failure modes: a monitored feed so we see a fetch failure before your listeners do; a host migration done properly with 301 redirects, preserved GUIDs and a feed-URL correction filed with Player FM rather than left to chance; duplicate-entry consolidation; archived-status reversal; and a decision, made with you, about how much back catalogue your feed should carry.

Measurement

Reporting: The Three User Agents Nobody Sums

Player FM does not hand publishers an analytics dashboard, which is why most agencies report nothing at all for it. There is a better way, and Player FM documents it themselves: the service uses three distinct user agents — Player FM, Player FM iOS and Player FM Android — and a complete picture requires collecting plays and downloads against each and adding them together.

Most hosting dashboards show these separately, or bury two of them in an "other" bucket, which is exactly why clients believe Player FM sends no traffic. We pull all three from your host's logs and report them as one number, split by platform, month over month, alongside the listen-link clicks we're driving from your own properties. You get a real read on whether the work is working.

Paid Reach

Paid Placement, Scoped Honestly

Player FM does sell sponsored placements to put shows in front of its listeners, and supplies a campaign performance report afterwards. It is a legitimate option and we'll tell you when it's worth considering — typically for a launch, a rebrand, or a show with a proven conversion path where paid reach compounds.

It is not a substitute for a correct listing. Paying to promote a show whose feed points at a dead host, or whose artwork fails to render, is spending money to advertise a broken product. Fix the listing first; buy reach second.

Wider Distribution

Beyond Player FM

Your Player FM page is one node. We treat it as part of a system.

Wider placement.

The same feed audit lets us place your show across the platforms that matter — Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pocket Casts, Castbox, Podcast Addict, Deezer, Podcast Index — including the ones that need a manual claim or a verification email sent to the address published inside your feed, which is the step most one-click distribution tools cannot complete for you.

Search and AI discovery.

Directory listings don't rank in Google; your own pages do. We publish transcripts, build canonical episode pages on your domain, mark them up with PodcastSeries and PodcastEpisode schema, and add feed auto-discovery so search engines and AI answer engines can connect the audio, the transcript and the show. That's what turns an episode into a page that earns traffic for years.

Global Reach

Markets We Work With

US + CA

United States and Canada.

The largest share of podcast downloads by a wide margin, and the deepest independent-app usage. Category competition is severe, so metadata precision and episode-level search phrasing do most of the heavy lifting.

UK

United Kingdom.

Strong commuter listening and a mature network landscape. Clean category selection and a well-built listen-link set matter more than volume here.

AU

Australia.

A smaller, high-engagement market where offline downloading is common on long commutes — a good structural fit for how Player FM is used.

SG

Singapore.

Multilingual by default. Honest language declaration in the feed prevents your show being served to the wrong audience and dismissed.

IN

India.

Android-majority, which makes independent Android-first apps disproportionately important — including for regional-language shows and for creators targeting the South Asian diaspora in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

Why Work With SEOServiceinIndia

Experience.

We have submitted, repaired, claimed and consolidated podcast listings across dozens of directories, hosts and apps — including the ones with no portal, no claim flow and no documentation. We know which support queues respond to what.

Expertise.

Our work is built on each platform's own published behaviour, not on recycled listicles. This page cites Player FM's own help centre because that is the only reliable source on how its algorithm and import tool behave.

Authoritativeness.

We work as a delivery partner to agencies and podcast networks as well as directly with creators and brands, on white-label terms where required.

Trust.

Plain commercial honesty: a Player FM listing is free. You are not paying us for the listing. You are paying for the feed audit, the correct submission, the listing repair, the metadata engineering, the traffic routing and the reporting — the work around it. We will tell you when a platform isn't worth your time, and we will never claim credit for a placement we cannot influence.

Workflow

Our Process

01

Free feed audit.

We run your feed against Player FM's import requirements, check crawler reachability, and search the catalogue for existing, duplicate or archived entries.

03

Feed remediation.

Enclosures, GUIDs, owner email visibility, artwork, categories, keywords, language, and any blocking rules on your server.

04

Submission or repair.

New submission via the right route, or a documented correction request filed with support for an existing entry.

05

Listing verification.

We confirm the live page on web, Android and iOS — artwork rendering, episode list complete, playback working, links correct.

06

Discovery work.

Metadata tuning, listen-link deployment, activation window, transcripts and canonical episode pages.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Adding a podcast to Player FM costs nothing — you need the RSS feed URL or an Apple Podcasts link and a free account. What you are paying us for is the feed audit, the correct submission, the listing repair and the discovery and reporting work that decides whether the listing does anything for you.

Imports are processed automatically and a valid feed usually appears quickly, often within a day. Delays almost always mean a feed fault or a blocked crawler rather than a queue, which is why we audit before submitting.

There is no ownership claim or creator dashboard. Your listing is generated from your RSS feed, and anything the feed can't fix is handled through Player FM's support channel. We file those requests on your behalf with the evidence needed to get them actioned.

Yes. This usually means the catalogue is pointing at an old or inactive feed, or that fetches have been failing. We identify which, fix the underlying cause, and request the catalogue correction.

Many discovery pages are algorithmically generated and cannot be manually curated — placement there is driven partly by subscriber counts and plays, plus your feed's keywords and tags. Some pages can be manually featured and are pitched by email. We work the inputs we can influence and pitch where pitching is possible; we do not sell guaranteed placement.

Yes, and this is one of Player FM's genuine strengths. Password-protected and secret feeds can be imported through the web import tool or the mobile app using the private-feed option. We set this up so your paying members can listen in a real app.

Yes. The same audited feed goes to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pocket Casts, Castbox, Podcast Addict, Deezer, Podcast Index and the relevant regional platforms — including the ones needing a manual claim or an in-feed verification email.

Directory pages rank for their own domains, not yours. Rankings come from transcripts, canonical episode pages on your site and correct schema markup, which is included from the Growth tier upward and increasingly drives AI answer engine visibility as well.
