Podnews Podcast Submission Services: Get Your Show Listed, Pitched and Noticed

Podnews is the daily briefing the podcast industry reads before its first meeting of the day. Hosts, networks, ad buyers, app builders and journalists all rely on it. Getting your show in front of that audience is not a matter of filling in a form. It's about being ready, being newsworthy and being on time.

SEOServiceinIndia's Podnews podcast submission services prepare your feed, your trailer and your launch pitch so every door Podnews offers is open to you. That covers the automatic podcast page, the New Podcasts trailer feed and a mention in the newsletter itself. We work with independent podcasters, brands and networks across the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore and India.

Three ways into Podnews: podcast page, trailer feed, newsletter
Three doors, three sets of rules
The Difference

What Is Podnews, and Why Submission Works Differently Here

Most platforms people call "podcast directories" take your RSS feed and list your show. Podnews is different. It is a news publisher, run by Podnews LLC and edited by James Cridland, who wrote his first podcast RSS feed back in 2005.

Podnews sends a free weekday email to more than 33,000 readers worldwide. It also publishes a daily news podcast, a company directory and a trailer feed for new shows.

So "submit my podcast to Podnews" can mean three quite different things, and each follows its own rules:

01

The Podnews podcast page

Podnews builds a free public page for podcasts it knows about. There is no form. Your data comes from Apple Podcasts, your RSS feed and your website.

02

The New Podcasts trailer feed

This is a free submission route for shows that are brand new, launching a new season or genuinely newsworthy.

03

Editorial coverage in the Podnews newsletter

Human editors choose these stories. It can't be bought, and nobody can guarantee it.

A good Podnews podcast submission service handles all three, in the right order. A weak one sends a press release on launch afternoon and hopes for the best.

Door One

Your Podnews Podcast Page Is Probably Already There, and Unchecked

Podnews does not ask you to register your show. If your podcast is in Apple Podcasts or the Podcast Index, it can appear in Podnews search, and clicking through adds it to the database automatically.

Each page includes:

  • An embedded player.
  • Follow links for more than 30 listening apps, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, Overcast, Pocket Casts, AntennaPod and Podcast Addict.
  • An "Information for podcasters" section that works as a free health check. It covers your host, your feed, your audio files, links to RSS validators and a list of directories your show appears to be missing from.

Two details catch most podcasters out.

First, you cannot edit a Podnews page directly. Wrong titles, stale artwork or a missing host credit can only be fixed at the source, in your RSS feed. Pages are cached and refresh on a schedule, so changes don't appear instantly. A manual rebuild brings in the corrected data sooner.

Second, the page doubles as a free, shareable follow link. Podnews accepts your Apple Podcasts ID, podcast GUID, Podcast Index ID or Spotify ID in the URL and redirects to the right page. Adding "/no" to the end removes Podnews branding and the podcaster section, which leaves a clean link you can use in bios, show notes and email signatures.

What we do at this stage

  • Find your page and read its checkup.
  • Repair the feed fields it flags: title, author, owner email, categories, artwork, episode GUIDs and audio enclosures.
  • List your show in the directories Podnews says you're missing from.
  • Add the Podcasting 2.0 tags the page displays: podcast:person for host and guest credits, transcripts, a stable podcast GUID and podroll recommendations.
  • Rebuild the page and verify the result.

Door Two

The New Podcasts Trailer Feed

Podnews runs the New Podcasts website and a companion podcast made up of trailers for new and noteworthy shows. Podnews reports that this podcast reaches around 15,000 listeners and 64,000 downloads a month. Because it links directly to your audio file, those plays land in your own host statistics.

Adding a show is free. For brand-new shows and new seasons it is the most dependable way in, and each entry is also considered for that day's Podnews newsletter.

The catch is preparation. Podnews looks for a trailer marked in your RSS feed, and a covered show typically earns a few hundred trailer downloads. That only happens if the trailer exists, is tagged correctly and plays cleanly in every app.

What we do at this stage

  • Write a trailer brief.
  • Tag the trailer episode in your feed.
  • Confirm it plays properly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the open apps.
  • Write your New Podcasts entry in Podnews's own house style.

Podnews itself advises reading how it covers shows in its "Podcast News" section and writing to match. We do exactly that.

Door Three

Editorial Coverage in the Podnews Newsletter

This is the prize, and the door where timing and craft matter most. Podnews publishes its guidance openly, and our pitches follow it to the letter:

  • Tell them in advance. Podnews is a daily newsletter and normally covers a show on its launch day. It is much less likely to cover a show that has already launched.
  • Include the Apple Podcasts link. Podnews normally requires your show to be on Apple Podcasts, though a Podcast Index or Spotify URL also works. With over 1,700 shows called "Real Talk", the link is how the editors know which one is yours.
  • Give an editorial reason. Good reasons include a new launch, a new season, something technically interesting or a real download milestone.
  • Think international. Podnews writes for a global readership, so a hyper-local angle rarely lands. We find the angle that travels.
  • Send everything in one email. Include a press release in DOC or PDF format with copyable text, and landscape photographs with people in them. Don't send logos or square cover art. Apple's Show Hero graphic also works.
  • Mark your embargo clearly. Podnews publishes at 6am ET in winter and 7am ET in summer (11:00 GMT), so your embargo has to lift before that, not after.

Podnews states plainly that it does not take payment to cover stories. Everything in this section is therefore earned media. Our job is to make your story as easy as possible to say yes to.

Fit Check

What Podnews Won't Cover, and Why We Check Before You Pay

Some shows will never get Podnews coverage, however polished the pitch. We run a fit check before any work starts.

Exclusive or paywalled shows

A show available only on Audible, Spotify or YouTube, or behind a subscription, doesn't meet Podnews's definition of a podcast.

Cannabis or medical marijuana shows

Podnews doesn't cover these, and it is very cautious with shows about sex or sexual health.

Award and nomination announcements

These are rarely covered individually, though full winners' lists from the awards themselves often are.

Repeat features

Podnews typically features a show once per season, unless there's a strong new reason.

Gated research

Reports that sit behind data-capture forms are not covered.

Unfinished tools

Podcast tools on a free subdomain, or not ready to launch, are passed over.

If your show falls into one of these groups, we'll tell you in the audit and recommend where your budget will work harder instead.

Podcast Companies

For Podcast Companies: The Podnews Directory

Podnews also maintains a directory of companies in podcasting, sorted by category. Categories include hosting platforms, listening apps, ad sales, marketing consultants, production tools, networks, events and newsletters.

Podnews editors look after the entries and welcome corrections and feedback. If you run a hosting platform, podcast tool, agency or network, we prepare accurate company details and a well-documented entry request. We then pair it with a product-launch pitch for the newsletter.

One rule matters here: a tool with its own domain and a working product stands a far better chance than a beta on a borrowed subdomain.

Global Markets

Market Notes: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore and India

USA

Podnews publishes at 6am or 7am Eastern, so US launches need embargoes that lift overnight. We schedule pitches in Eastern Time and line up your Apple, Spotify and YouTube listings before the story goes out.

UK

The summer publishing time is 11:00 GMT. UK networks are well covered by Podnews, so a British show competes against strong launches and needs a sharp hook.

Canada

Podnews wants news from outside the USA. We frame Canadian shows for an international reader, and for bilingual shows we clearly declare which language each feed is in.

Australia

Podnews's editorial and tech are produced by an Australian company, but publishing runs on northern-hemisphere time. We plan Australian launches in reverse so the pitch arrives in time and the embargo suits the morning publish.

Singapore

English-language Singapore shows with a regional or industry angle fit Podnews well. We make sure the angle reads clearly to a global audience.

India

Podnews says it wants to amplify under-represented voices and stories from beyond the USA. Many Indian shows start on Spotify or YouTube, so we confirm an Apple Podcasts listing first. For regional-language shows, we write an English pitch that explains why the show matters.

Why Choose Us

Why Choose SEOServiceinIndia for Podnews Podcast Submission

Experience

We have mapped the real submission rules for dozens of podcast platforms, including hosts, player apps, open indexes, retired services and news publishers like Podnews. We know which platforms take a form, which read your feed and which need a human to say yes.

Expertise

We work at feed level. GUIDs, trailer tags, owner emails, transcripts and structured data are where listings break and coverage is won.

Honesty

Getting onto Podnews itself costs nothing. The podcast page is automatic, New Podcasts is free, and Podnews says it does not take payment for stories. You are paying us for the work around it: the fixes, the trailer, the pitch, the timing and the verification.

We never promise coverage, and we never pay for editorial. If Podnews's own paid options make sense for your launch, we'll tell you, and you'll buy them directly from Podnews. Those options are network sponsorship, a paid editorial focus starting at $500, and classifieds.

Who This Service Isn't For

This service is not a good fit for:

  • Exclusive, paywalled or subscription-only shows.
  • Shows with no launch, no new season and no news angle this quarter.
  • Cannabis podcasts.
  • Anyone who needs guaranteed newsletter coverage.
  • Anyone looking for audio production. We prepare and promote shows, we don't record or edit them.

Not for its podcast pages. Podnews builds them automatically for shows found in Apple Podcasts or the Podcast Index. The free submission route is the New Podcasts website, and editorial pitches go to the Podnews editor by email.

No. Podnews says it does not seek payment to cover any story. It does sell separate sponsorship, editorial focus and classified options, which are clearly marked as paid.

Several days before launch is ideal. Podnews normally covers a show on its launch day, and it is much less likely to pick up a show that has already launched.

No, and nobody honestly can. We maximise your chances with a ready feed, a tagged trailer, a strong hook and correct timing. The editors make the final call.

Edit your RSS feed, because Podnews reads its data from your feed and Apple listing. The page is cached, so trigger a rebuild afterwards. We handle both steps.

For newsletter coverage, it normally does, although a Podcast Index or Spotify link is also accepted. We confirm your Apple listing during the audit.

Yes. Podnews actively wants stories from outside the USA. The pitch needs an angle that works for an international audience, and your show should be listed on the major apps.

It is a Podnews-run podcast of trailers for new shows and new seasons. It links directly to your audio, so the plays count in your own statistics.
